Professor Yun Hau NG
Yun Hau Ng is a professor in the School of Energy and Environment, and the director of Low-Carbon and Climate Impact Research Centre (LCCIC) at City University of Hong Kong. He received his Ph.D. from Osaka University (under supervision of Prof. Michio Matsumura) in 2009. After a brief research visit to the Radiation Laboratory at University of Notre Dame (Prof. Prashant Kamat's group), he joined the ARC Centre of Excellence for Functional Nanomaterials led by Prof. Rose Amal at UNSW with the Australian Postdoctoral Fellowship (APD) in 2011. He joined the School of Chemical Engineering at UNSW as a Lecturer in 2014 as was promoted to tenured Senior Lecturer in 2016.
He joined City University of Hong Kong in August 2018. His research is focused on the development of novel photoactive semiconductors (particles and thin film) for sunlight energy conversion. Focusing on these projects, Yun Hau has accumulated more than HK $46 million (US$ 5.9 mil) research funding from various sources including Hong Kong Research Grant Council (RGC) and Australian Research Council (ARC). He was awarded the Honda-Fujishima Prize in 2013 by the Electrochemical Society of Japan in recognition of his work in the area of photo-driven water splitting. He is also an Emerging Investigator in Energy Materials selected by RSC J. Mater. Chem. A in 2016. He received the Distinguished Lectureship Award from the Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ) in 2018. In 2019, Dr. Ng was awarded the APEC Science Prize for Innovation, Research and Education (ASPIRE Prize) in Chile. He is also the recipient of the Japanese Photochemistry Association Kataoka Lectureship Award for Asian and Oceanian Photochemist 2021. He is currently listed as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher. Dr. Ng has published over 200 peer-reviewed research articles and currently serving as Editor for Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics (Springer).
